- U.S. states are filling the climate leadership gap left by the federal government;
- U.S. states are collaborating with each other and with other countries, cities and the business community to meet the carbon reduction targets laid out in the Paris Agreement; and,
- U.S. states are calling for more ambitious action in order to prevent the most catastrophic effects of the climate crisis.
We were delighted to collaborate with additional partners such as IETA, Georgetown Climate Center, We Are Still In, the United States Climate Alliance, and Canadian provinces and the federal government to show support for the Paris Agreement. Wednesday, November 13, 2019
1:00 pm – 2:00 pm Eastern / 10:00 am – 11:00 am Pacific
Global attention is on the upcoming UNFCCC climate change conference, COP25, hosted by Spain in Madrid from December 2-13. With heightened awareness and concern regarding parties’ commitments and meaningful climate action, many have high hopes for the activity and results coming out of COP25. The main focus will be on Article 6, and once again, the strong presence and impact of subnational jurisdictions will be influential at the event.
The Climate Registry and the Climate Action Reserve invite you to join us as we discuss expectations for COP25 during a pre-COP webinar on Wednesday, November 13 10:00 am – 11:00 am PT. Speakers will address expectations and goals for the overall event; messages and goals of US states and Canadian provinces and territories; and an overview of Article 6 work that is expected to take place. Speakers include: Alden Meyer, Director of Strategy and Policy for the Union of Concerned Scientists; Katie Sullivan, Managing Director of the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA); and Julie Cerqueira, Executive Director of the U.S. Climate Alliance.
